How to Get to Apu Siqay?

To reach this destination, head to the María Auxiliadora train station, and then take a short walk down Huamachuco street to Pista Nueva, along Salvador Allende avenue. From there, you can either take a moto-taxi for S.5 per person or walk all the way up to the site entrance, which is where you will need to pay a small entrance fee.

The hike to the top typically takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the views are well worth the effort. As you ascend, take the time to appreciate the beautiful landscapes along the way.

The easy way is to take a taxi until the MotoTaxis points (that’s also the entrance of the treck) – https://goo.gl/maps/ZU5Y2hSZoR6Qc9UM7

Getting Back to the City

After the sunset, make sure you start your descent early, as everything gets dark quite fast. You can take a moto-taxi or tuk-tuk down the mountain, but some people also choose to walk. Once back where the taxi dropped you off, you can take a minibus going directly to the train station. The minibus typically waits until there are enough people to fill it. It’s 3 soles for a direct journey to the train station.

My own trip there

I went with a friend, I wouldn’t recommend going alone. It was a day without clouds, but still with a beautiful view (a Saturday in late January). We did it the easy way with the taxi until the taxi had to stop at the gate. To go, you will cross some very poor areas of Lima.
